Axolotl Names

I chose nahuatl names and phrases because I like names that are somehow related to the origin of my pets. Or names that are "good omens".

My albinos are called Aitic ("in the water") and Nitemiqui ("I am dreaming"), the goldie is Tonalli (sun, day, good luck) and the wild type is called Anqui ("hunter").

Before, I had Quetzalli (precious feather or princess), Atl ("water"), Pilpil ("child), Nenetl ("doll") and Nahuatl ("four waters").

Axl Rose, Ivar the Boneless, Chalupa Batman, Tupac, and Casper.... I have been all over the place when it comes to naming these guys.

Axl Rose: First axolotl, didn't get too creative :D
Chalupa Batman: funny name from "The League"
Ivar the Boneless: I had been watching a lot of "Vikings" on History
Tupac: seriously, no idea why, just thought it would be cool to have a pet named Tupac
Casper: the friendly ghost leucistic

So far... Wooper!

I love reading all the names, as well as the stories that go with them. My new little guy Po got his name from the Graceling book series. His one eye is black but his other eye is a bit different and seems to have a lighter ring around it, so I thought Po would be a fitting name.

my axies names are Jaz, Sparkle, Hercules , zues and one little one is yet to be named

Mine are named Luska, Bahmut, Liviathian, Trogdor, Parthanax, and Alduin. ^.^ love my little dragons.

Aaaah! I love your Skyrim names!
I'm getting my first two axolotls soon (already paid for them, the breeder is very graciously holding them while I work out what's wrong with my tank...cycling is taking longer than expected) so I was thinking of naming one Paarthurnax because I genuinely loved that character and that game
I'm checking out name threads for inspiration but still kinda coming up short. They're still pretty young so IDK if I'll be able to sex them yet so I was probably gonna go gender-neutral for names, which makes it harder. I may just through that out the window. Who knows, I might end up with a boy axie named Elizabeth 0_o
I'm thinking either pop-culture names, mythological names, or historical names. Even place names are cute sometimes (I work at PetSmart and personally happen to know a dog named Berlin and I just love her name!).
I also took Japanese in high school and I know that axies are really popular in Japan so perhaps a Japanese name wouldn't be too out of line (something like Mizuki, or Nami, or something with a water meaning. One of my babies is a leucistic so Hakuryuu would work 'cause it means "White dragon").
I dunno it's hard to pick. I'll probably just wait until after I get them and see if they kind of name themselves based on their looks or behavior.

I just got my first axolotl yesterday. I originally had ordered a leucistic and when I went to check in on him at the shop, the employee started telling me the black one and the white one were in the same tank during a water change and the black one ate his front legs off and attacked his tail pretty badly. I was fuming when I had to tell the guy the WHITE one was supposed to be mine.

After a lot of hassle I was offered the black one for a discount so I bought him. His name is Hannibal.

I really wanted to take the sick axie as well but they refused to give him to me for free, they wanted $80.00 for him. I don't think he'll make it they had him in a tiny tank like 2/5 gallons tops with small gravel and no hide. I didn't get to check the water temp either.

If anyone is in the area, this was at Big Als Newmarket, Ont. Please don't ever order any axolotls from them, they have no idea what they're doing and they tried to sell me a regular wildtype juvie for $110.00.

My axies name is Grimes, he's brown. He also is named after Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead.

I have a golden axie who I called 'Peaches', as he is a very peachy colour  and I liked the starfish from Finding Nemo ;)

I don't have any axies yet, I hope to get some by next year, but I'd like two. A leucistic and melanistic. I'd name them after fairy type and shadow type Pokemon haha.

So far I have 5... And something tells me that I'm not done  ;)
Anyways, my babies

1 wild type named - Haku
((named after the river dragon from Hayao's Miyazaki Spirited Away))

1 speckled gold albino named - Falkor
((Named after the luck dragon from Never Ending Story))

1 lightly freckled Leucistic named - Ralphy
((Because before he liked eating earth worms, he would spit them out... I should rename him "Gobbles":proud:

1 dark Melanoid named - Snowball

1 heavily freckled Leucistic named - Mr. Pickles :animal:
((Named after the dog on a late night cartoon on adult swim. Mr Pickles is a Jerk... He waits until his siblings are in a pile of two or more and then plows into them. Seriously, it's like he playing a game of Bowling for axolotls. Otherwise, he's very passive. I think he gets bored.. Lol

My Leucistic's name is Rosa, but I call her Rose Bug. She's really sassy and likes to get stuck in things, just like a Rose bug. I just turned over while typing this and she's stuck upside down behind one of her plants  she's a dork.

My wild types name is Mudkip (I'm a nerd, I know). We call him Nubs sometimes because he was the runt of his brothers, so got his arms nipped off when he was younger. His legs grew back fine, though, so that nickname doesn't make sense anymore.

I got my friend a wild type, too, and she named him Fenton. He's a fatty.

I have a habit of naming my axies after Greek Gods and Goddesses!

Female Leucistic - Atropos, Goddess of fate and destiny

Male Leucistic - Dionysus, God of wine and pleasure

Female Axanthic - Mania, Goddess of insanity and the dead

Male Axanthic - Hypnos, the God of sleep

Can you tell my pattern?

I have an albino named Coconut. Just brought home a wild last week struggling with name. Any ideas that would go good with Coconut? They are both juveniles so don't know sex yet so trying to pick a name cute either way.

I'm very impressed with the names that people have chosen for their axolotls. Mine are not quite so imaginative and don't really follow a pattern as such, but they have stuck so far.
The mature males are as follows:-
Leucistic with freckles - El Bandito (because his freckles looked like a mask)
Leucistic with light freckles - Pringles (someone on this forum suggested that axolotls are like Pringles because "once you pop you can't stop")
Wild type - Daffyd (after the Matt Lucas character)
The juveniles are as follows:-
Wild type - Chunky Monkey (eats the most and has grown the quickest)
2 coppers - Ben & Jerry (ok, there's an ice cream theme with the juveniles)

How about "Sprinkles"? Your wild type will have pale markings, as if it has been sprinkled with coconut.
