Question: Axolotl length to age ratio

I am fairly new to having axies (5-6 months) and currently have two. I have had Terrance (female) since October, my first axolotl, and he is 7 roughly inches long but i don't know his age.
I got my second Clarence two weeks ago and know for certain that it was born in October, but it is already 7 inches and i know that it has the potential to grow more.

I was wondering what the average length of an axie at different ages and how long do the largest get to?

Hi Nafe!

On average it's an inch a month, but growth can slow down after the first 6 months. Adult sizes range from 6 to 15 inches - a lot depends on nutrition while growing as well as genetics. I seem to raise huge monsters....

So if an axie is 7 inches you can probably guess it's age as somewhere in the region of 5 to 9 months. You can also say that a 6 month axie should be around 5-7 inches.

If Terrence isn't fully grown you can't say she's a she for definate yet. How big was she when you got her, and where did you get her from?

I got her from a pet shop in Southborough as a surprise present for my birthday, so i had nothing to do with the choosing process :'(
She hasn't grown at all since i got her...

She may add another inch with the right nutrition. If not just keep an eye on the two of them and make sure they still get on as Clarence grows.
