Thanks Kapo. I will use the turkey baster and see if that helps. I run my fingers through the sand once a week and get rid of the waste that comes from the sand. I have been doing small daily water changes, the ammonia is at 0.50 now, all other readings are 0. Thank you again greatly appreciate it.

No problem! Sounds like your pair are doing well now though. Husband's been using our barbecue fork to do sand in our big tank, only discovered when I was clearing behind the tanks! Wondered where it disappeared too! But I occasionally use my hand much too, much to his distaste!
