FYI: 6ft x 2ft x 2.5ft tank setup from scratch! MiniBlog :)

EXCITING NEWS -
LOTL LAND IS NOW OPEN :D

Kerry on here has beautiful "babies" who need to find homes & given Kerry is a little bit out of the big city I offered her a half way house while we find them homes.

I had no idea how large Kerry's babies would be & then plan was to finally transfer my largest 4 into the 6ft tank & put Kerry's into the 4ft. I had arranged to collect 10 of her babies & the pick up went well - except they are all about 20cm long & bigger than even my largest axolotls

Thankfully I hadn't already put mine in because I realised the plans would have to change! Kerry's lotls are now the tenants in the big tank & oh boy are they having fun!

The funniest thing to watch is
them "jousting"
One lines up at each front corner & I'm not sure who's yelling "go" but they charge off & collide in the middle  lol

[please note the Dobermann who's nose is in the pic as always - is not pleased about more lizards in her house! lol]

The 10 Lotls are loving the big tank & I've started looking to find them homes - I've tried to post on the For Sale section - but for some reason the post isn't appearing...
If you're in the Sydney Area & interested in any of these babies let me know - prospective owners will be screened to make sure that they go to wonderful homes to continue living in the manner they've become accustomed to ;)
Like getting fed lots of worms & kept healthy & chubby :D

They're all eating well (3 earthworms each) & love exploring their tank. They like munching the occasional guppy or ten too :) it's not like there isn't lots of them to munch :D

If I had a tank that big I'd get in with em!

They are having an absolute ball :)
I'm so happy that they are in Lotl Land with you, mine would be jealous if they knew they missed out :)

I witnessed a near miss tonight while trying to feed them all separately (no easy task) when in the background one lotl grabbed the back leg of another lotl & it took off fast with the other one still attached to the leg momentarily 0.0
I bashed the glass yelling stop! Yup I yelled at a fish tank >_< lol
After feeding them all more worms I spent an hour checking to see that all 40 legs & feet were intact & undamaged - nothing obvious visable damage or injury wise so fingers crossed it was a gentle chomp

They are very sweet lotls & the pigs love their wormies :) chubba wubbas!

Stop teasing the cat.

My hubby thinks i am ready for the loonie bin

While I was encouraging the axies to eat worms today my son said "you know mum, the axies don't understand you"...

You only need to start worrying if Pablo starts answering you ;)

This mornings lotl antics had me watching for way too long :)

One went to a great home yesterday & seems to be enjoying its new tank I was sent a few pics of the happy lotl - I was happy it found a home but sad because I'm down to nine

I've been following your build and have been so jealous. I was wondering about your hides. Did you purchase them or build them?

Oh, BTW, I just wanted to share what I do with the bottoms of my tanks, short version…
Since leaving the bottom bare shows all the “dirt” and using gravel isn’t safe for the Axie’s, I tried the following with excellent results. I spread a good layer of silicone sealer on the bottom and then spread pebbles on top, about 2 inches. I pushed while spreading to anchor the pebbles into the silicone then let the silicone cure. Then I emptied the tank of all the loose pebbles, rinsed the tank out. I ended up with an aesthetically pleasing result that is easy to clean, safe and nice to look at.

Can you post a picture? I'd like to see as I'm getting a tank soon. Also, can the waste be seen and easy to clean?

This morning antics "playing dead"

He's hanging right up the top of the tank under the frogbit waiting for unsuspecting guppies
lol - I freaked out when I first saw this tactic to catch guppies but I'm used to it now :)

These are the 2 that are likely to stay permanently - they've won my heart!
