Now about 100 eggs are ripening.
The brother and the sister are parents.
There will be genetic diseases

I think.I raise about 20-40 axis.

I put eggs with plastic plant to small tank.40/25/25 cm.All days I change 30% water.In tank is air stone and 20% sol Hottfletters,and Fungi Stop Tetra

That is a goog question, wether or not inter-breeding in salamanders is a bad thing, genetically speaking...ask a seasoned axolotl veteran...

As far as I know (Ed or Michael Shrom will chime in, I'm sure), one instance of interbreeding doesn't usually cause too many problems. If your offspring breed with each other, and their offspring breed, you'll see a rise in genetic abnormalities, but I don't think it's severe in the first generation.

Some comments,

Genetic caused deformities are not what is typically seen in animals unless the animals are carrying recessive traits for those issues. The item that will most likely be seen in the long run (over multiple generations) is that there is an inbreeding depression (increase in infertility).
In general, I would strongly suspect that many of the axolotls in the pet trade as fairly closely related...

I think my first batch of eggs were inbred. I got them from a pet shop and they said they didn't know who the parents were. All were albino to white. Some of the hatchling's were deformed. I guess that wouldn't mean they were inbred, but there's a good chance they were as the shop I got them from don't really care about animals.

I want to buy golden albino axis
I must buy axi abroad.

Now-i have 5 axis.
1 isn't good-He is lying on his side.

OMG!!!!! did i throw out my living axolotl!!!! :< She was on her side, but i moved her with a stick, then i poked her, adn nothing happened. Maybe she was in a coma?!?!?! I feel really bad now!!!! Her gills weren't exactly pale either, but i didnt want her to rott the tank if she was dead~!!
How do you tell if an axolotl is dead?!?!?!

I didn't mean to upset anyone about dead axies

I just found that with my first batch of babies that some would be on their sides or upside down, and because I'm just one of those people who can't help but triple check, or triple triple check. But with babies I found that if they had their mouths open and were lifeless after poking, they were dead. I found myself staring for long periods of time. Not sure if that's a good thing
