Hi Guys

These are my 31 day old axie babies courtesy of Michelle.

They are doing great and are using their new front legs.

Can anyone take a guess at the colour ? They must be albino's but not sure if pink or golden ... they look at lot like my ex's pink albino's did at that age, although these guys looked a lot creamier colored when in their eggs so i'm not sure ...

Thanks

Karen :)

Ps There are a lot more - but all exactly the same colour :)

I love it when they're little; you can see all their internal organs!

Hey Michelle :)

I've got about 22 I think. Unfortunately I lost a few soon as soon as they were born (genetic problems I guess?) and accidently sucked 2 up the turkey baster - which they never managed to recover from - I was so angry with myself !!

The others are doing great :)

Do you know how the rest of them are ?

What do you think of the colours ? :)

Hey Michelle

Do you have any pics of the potential dadies ?:)

moomin

nugget

it may have been one of these two or it could have been my white albino ( mr staypuft ) i dont have any pictures of him yet he is very shy.

cant really tell the colour from the picture but the ones i kept to raise are golden

Thanks Michelle :).

I'm guessing it's not the shy guy - lol !

Do you class white albino as pink with pink eyes ? I still get confused about the whole pink / white thing - ha ha !

They do look like our pink albinos did though ...

Maybe he is shy in some respects but not others - ha ha !

Hey is that Moonin hinding in the back of the first pic - or is that mummy ? :)

Karen i think i have some from the same batch, five now are starting to sprout back legs, they all seem a to be a golden colour and with the hundred or so marbled newt tadpoles i have ready to morph they are costing me a fortune in bloodworm.

moomin is the leucistic , the golden one hiding in the top pic is mummy i think.
she has specks of dirt on her face hehehe

Aw bless ! Thanks Michelle

Ian where are you ? I'm in Cleveland aswell ..

How many babies do you have ? Don't think mine have back legs yet - but I'll take a closer look tonight - are yours already eating bloodworm ?

Karen
I live in Skelton near Guisborough.
I have 25 ,some are still very small whilst some as i say are sprouting back legs. They have been feeding on blood worm for some time now although i tend to still mix daphnia in with them. With the amount i have bought the owners of Tropical house in Redcar will be going on two holidays this year in their brand new Merc wearing their top of the range Rolex watches.

Ha ha !

They will no doubt be joined on their trip by the owners of Neata Aquatics in Stockton !

Been to Guis but never Skelton ..

All mine seem to be different sizes but same stage of development :)

Karen- Going back to your photo's, the axies i have are a lot more yellow in colour they seem to be the same colour as the axie called Nugget, the bigger ones even have the light coloured flecks in the tail.I would say the bigger ones are around two and a half inches, the smallest around one inch.

I was hoping they might be goldens :-(. Been trying to get one for months ! Oh well .. they are still sweet ...

Thanks Ian ...

i think they look quite golden , i have some very pale lemon colour golden ones as well as the darker gold.

just wait an see if they are not golden i can send you some more eggs next time she lays and we can try again

Although i keep mainly newts and salamanders i have had two axies for five years now, a black one and a white, they must be the same sex or one is pig ugly as they have never bred.Is the one you call nugget not a golden axie then ,it looks golden to me and with a name like Nugget! You sent me 30 eggs a while back and all of them are yellow in colour where Karens look more white.Have you only the one female or is it possible you had two separate batches of eggs.If the ones i have are golden then look no further Karen you can have some of mine.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
