My two beauties in their juvenile tank. Another few weeks and they can be moved into the big tank :D

I can't wait to get better pictures, I'm so proud of these little ones.

I've had to crop the images as the site wasn't letting me upload them, but at least I can finally show off my babies!

Re: Rey & Kai!

They're stunning, aren't they! They look like they have diamond dust sprinkled on them :p

Some more photo's of Rey & Kai, because you can NEVER have enough pictures of cute axolotls :D

Thanks!

I'm hoping that in a month or so, I'll be able to look back at these pictures and notice a difference in their size.

I'm keeping a journal of how many worm pieces they each eat daily, and I'm amazed at how much these little ones can put away  I'm also amazed at how much poop they can pop out LOL

Messy babies.

Thank you, Rey does have incredibly shiny gills. Kai also has some shimmer but funnily enough - it's mainly on his tummy!

They're both equally gorgeous :D

Kai is the perfect example of what a leucisitc albino looks like - you can see the iridopohores in the eyes and gills really well. The ones on the tummy will fade as he gets older, but the others will stay.

AuntieJude - Kai's top right gill stalk is shorter than his others - it's re-growing and I can see the little "feathers" developing each day. Do you think it's causing him any discomfort?

Aw, I can't wait to see them both grow up! Will Rey's iridophores change at all? As in, spread out over her body as she grows?

Kai's got a few tiny iridophore flecks on his tail too, they're beautiful!

They are very pretty! I like how cute their faces are :D

These two never cease to amaze me with their silly antics  :p

Some more pictures of my crazy little ones.

Waiting for some new hides/plastic plants to turn up so I can change their scenery a bit, just to keep them stimulated and encourage them to explore :)

Have got some live Java Ferns to put in but discovered they're covered in snail eggs  so I'll have to deal with that before introducing live plants to the tank.

Not all gills will be identical - it just adds 'character' when they're a little uneven. It probably got nipped at some point, it won't be bothering him if its healing.

Iridophore patterns change as they grow, you'll just have to wait and see...

Glad that it won't be bothering him :) I think his short gills are adorable :D

That peek-a-boo picture made me chuckle, it's just so cute.

I must admit, the peek-a-boo picture is my absolute favourite! It's my background on my laptop, never fails to make me smile :D

Both Kai & Rey are doing great, eating lots and pooping up a storm :p

I've had to frantically search online for a new tank for my little ones to upgrade to in future. The "big" tank that they were meant to be upgraded to in a few weeks has now got several goldfish living in it, as their tank got damaged when my mum took a fall :(

Sadly, Kai & Rey will be in this 'juvenile' tank for a few extra weeks. I'm not happy about it, but I can't blame my disabled Mother for falling over and damaging her goldfish tank, and I know the juvenile tank has plenty of space for my babies to live comfortably for a while.

At least I can use the filter media from the cycled tank to help seed the new tank. I suppose that's my silver lining

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum had a fall and I hope that she has not injured herself. :(

A few more pictures of my beautiful babies!
I can't believe how well they're doing :D

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
