heh, i try to avoid animals that parisitize plants in vivariums. ive already got a nasty case of spider mites on my coleus'
 
Nice setup. Did you try keeping them aquatic, which is what I'm going to *try* to do with mine? However, I failed to achieve this with my C.orientalis, so I've had to resort to the old "shallow aquatic setup". I believe the reason is temperature related (too high).
 
not so much on topic, but a reply to Alan:
I'm keeping my c.orientalis fully aquatic. At start I had some problems with that too, even though the tank was perfect for them.

One thing I changed, I removed the filter, it was not the current as the flow was blocked, but the noise the filter made. Two weeks after removing the filter the newts stayed in the water practicly all the time.
Now, all the time.

Sorry to interrupt topic. Great looking setup AJJ. For a moment I thought they were actually taken outdoors.

Interesting Joeri. I had a small box filter in with mine, temp about 22C. *Kept* climbing the glass. Gave in eventually and moved them to a 3.5 litre box with about 2cm of water at 20C:

Not as nice as your setup AJfr0ggy, but 24 hours later, they are all aquatic again! Filter theory is interesting Joeri.

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
