Young newts with old ones

I just moved to LA and a pet shop I visited has tons of very small JFB newts. Where I used to live, the newts were always sold as adults, these are obviouslt babies. I currently have an adult JFB in a 20 gallon tank. Would he be bothered or be aggressive towards the addition of one of these smaller newts? The adult is probably 5 1/2 inches long, maybe bigger. these baby newts are probably only 2 1/2 inches.

It's risky due to the size difference. Also, you'd need to quarantine the new ones due to diseases they bring from pet shops. Also, the small ones are almost certainly small adult CFB, not baby JFB.

i thought that was the case, because they look very different from my JFB, skin is smoother. just when i think i finally can spot the differences between the two.....Can JFB co exist with CFB?

Hi Chris,

I would setup a C.o. species tank. Would not recommend them together. :0

Ok will do. I have a 10 gallon that should be good for the little guys since there all so small. THis is the first time I have ever gotten to see very young newts or salamanders and i have to say that there the cutest animals ive ever seen. puts my girlfriends bunny to shame.
