Here are some recent photos of my juvenile T. shanjing. Note the two different colours present; only one of my adult females is the lighter, more yellow colour - so its possible that her genes are playing a role somewhere!

They've certainly changed a lot, both physically and in terms of character since this post:

Hi Mark,

They're looking fantastic! The chap in the last photo looks particularly "cute"! Just out of interest, what sort of size are they at now?

All the best!

Liam.

Nice, the first pic is the best (in my opinion)

they look wonderful!!!!

Mine morphed months ago but some of them are still really small although they have plenty of food available. Is this usual? Others are big fatties but they don't have the look of maturity that yours do... (the smaller ones seem healthy and can move very fast).

Mine also have a lot of colour variation, from deep orange to yellowish although the parents are both a medium to dark orange.

Thanks all!

Liam:
Just measured some for you - they're 6.5-7cm long at the moment.

Rachel:
I'm afraid I don't really have enough experience to comment. It might depend on the individual size at morphing of the newts in question, as suggested here: http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/13/440.html?1085748047 or maybe simply differences between individuals?

So much for my theories on genetics! I only have a very small number of the more yellow ones. I'd still love to know which of my adults actually mated though!

Any chance of some photos of your wee guys?

great pictures and very nice colour keep posting they're progress

Love your pictures! Your girl looks a little camera shy. It is nice to be shown their progress, great job! Thank you for sharing them.

Thanks Michelle! Its a definite improvement from spending all her time under a piece of wood!

Sam:
Feel free - but expect a visit from me to your collection! :p

After our exams mate-by then I might have some more dartfrogs too. Theres four of us in the Vet school now-maybe a society should be formed?!

So how are these growing-any chance of some more recent pictures?

Excellent - I look forward to it! Great to see the newt bug is spreading - was a shame that you couldn't make Newt Day!

They have grown a wee bit lengthwise since the last pictures were taken. They've also become more chunky and adult-like and developed a bit more colouration.

I took these pictures a couple of days ago but I'm sure that I could get some better ones!

Tylototritons are close to becoming my favorites thanks to the incredible personality of my Elektra (Tylo. verr.) I love these faces, and these stocky little bodies! Your animals are beautiful.
