Wrong setup for babies?

I have a batch of C. Pyrrhogaster babies, recently morphed. I had them on cocoa fiber, but today moved them to a setup of sloped gravel w/ a water section. Now 5 of the 8 have climbed way up the side of the enclosure. They were not climbing the sides in the cocoa fiber setup. Does this mean they don't like the new setup & I should switch back?

Most juveniles are terrified of the water. This is pretty much normal. You should move them back to a terrestrial setup, especially if they were more comfortable there. Sometimes you'll get post morphs that go back into the water, but mostly they stay out of the water for some time.

If use some floating plants and let them get hungry, the morphs will go back into the water to feed. The only downside is that you will lose some of the metamorphs but most will become aquatic again.

I moved them back to a set up with cocoa fiber & they seem much happier. No more wall climbing. Thanks.
