Hi folks,
I would like to ask for your help if can. I am a volunteer at PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) in their Wellness and Spay/Neuter clinic. PAWS is the largest and only non-kill shelter in Philadelphia and PAWS has been chosen as a finalist in the Tom's of Maine "50 States for Good" contest, and voting is now open. 50 States for Good is a national initiative supporting grassroots community projects by funding the projects that gain the most votes from the public. If voted a winner, PAWS will use the $20,000 prize to provide spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to dogs and cats whose owners could not otherwise afford or access veterinary care.

I know everyone on this board is an animal lover. With your help, PAWS can reach those in greatest need of care, empowering pet owners to keep their dogs and cats as cherished family members by giving them an alternative to surrendering them to shelters.

To help PAWS win the money, there is public voting from today thru September 10th. You can cast a vote every day - all it takes is a couple of keystrokes. If you can help, here is the website to vote:

Giving Back: Community Involvement, Influencing Our Communities | Tom's of Maine

Voting is open to anyone with a valid email address.

Thanks much and I really appreciate your time and effort - but most importantly, the animals thank you.

Hey, you got two here! Got the hubby involved! :D

Ladies and gentlemen - thanks MUCH for your support!!

Thanks Dawn - with that kind of help.....we just might be awarded the money!

Heh.... I didn't want to cop to that. I haven't done it everyday. But every now and then all 7 of the computers here at work vote. So does my home computer. Computers are pretty amazing.

Only 10 days left in the voting. If you have a couple of key-strokes you could offer, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much,
Jan

Hey Otter - thank you soooooo much for your support. Yes, voting has now closed. Everyone's vote was appreciated and we shall see. I will let you know should PAWS be awarded the money for this very worthwhile cause.

Thanks again to all!

Yes, I'd really like to know how you did.

Oh, it's been so long since someone called me "Otter." There were times when that's all I was called. Of course, now I'm a professional and can't go around talking about that part of me...but thanks, it felt so good!

The results are in and PAWS has WON!

Thanks to your votes, PAWS will receive $20,000 from Tom’s of Maine to provide free spay/neuter and basic veterinary care to low-income pet owners. This is a meaningful opportunity to provide even more services to the neediest pets. Thanks to you, this monetary award will enable pets to remain as cherished family members, reduce the number of animals surrendered to city shelters, and bring Philadelphia one step closer to becoming a no-kill city.

Thank you so, so, so very much for all your time and effort - it is truly and most sincerely appreciated.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
