Worried - Axolotl is not eating

Hello

Please help
I have had my axolotl for over 2 months, he is about 12 months old and he has always eaten well but he seems to be off his food for the past week. he is also hiding in his house most of the time.
I feed him on earthworms.
I changed his water recently and am wandering if it may be too cold, I have not tested
the temperature as i have to buy a thermometer.

Do you have water tests for ammonia, nitrItes and nitrAtes? If not, you should buy them to test the water too. The liquid test kits may be more expensive but a lot more accurate. Did you treat the new water you added to your tank?


If it's really cold it just may be the temperature slowing his metabolism. Keep offering worms though.

I do not have a testing kit but will buy one this weekend.
I do treat the new water and only did a half tank change, I also have live plants in the tank to help with the water quality.
