My axolotl larvae hatched today - I wasn't expecting them to for at least another 2 or 3 days (this is my first time hatching axolotls), so I just now started up my brine shrimp hatchery. I know that they eat their yolk for the first few days, but do they do that in the egg? If that's the case, how do you know they've "hatched?" And if not - do I just leave the eggs in with the larvae? I'm really worried because I know the brine shrimp will take at LEAST another 24 hours to hatch and I don't want them to starve.

they should be fine, they have yolk in thei tummies for the first day or so.
if you are concerned you could always try to get some daphnia for them.
i only feed mine daphnia as i never have success with brine shrimp lol.

Hi, I've read the site about live foods. Just wondering what is your process for acquiring/ breeding daphnia?

I get mine from my local shop,i dont breed it personally but there are several threads on here from people who do, and give good information about how to go about it.

Take a look at the Live food section - as Frances said, there are several reports on culturing daphnia.
