I have had my two almost 3 weeks and last night I was feeding them ( The tank is divided but I feed them at the same time) and Mudkip sucked the whole cube into his mouth and basically started to choke , He slowly spit it out enough to actually eat some but when I went to bed last night he had a worm hanging out of his gills, It didn't seem to be bothering him and at that age I didn't want to hurt him. Has anyone experienced this? Is it anything I should have been worried about?

It's alright - that area of their anatomy is open. :)

I assume you mean the freezer dried cubes? If you don't want to feed live, look into Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, they're great and much more nutritious than the freezer dried cubes! If you have access to them, live earthworms or blackworms are also good choices. The cubes are unfortunately just not very good for them.

If your food is still in cube-form, it's not thawed enough to be feeding.

It wasnt still in cube form I was shaking it loose when he attacked the tongs.

Its just frozen I also feed Omega One Shrimp pellets ... I did look at Hikari Carnivore pellets and I didn't really like the ingredient list.

Its not me disliking live :) I just haven't gotten worms yet :) My littler one is too small for everything lol

Toothless has guffed food out of his gills before, hidden behind the fluffeh gills there is a slot which is perfectly normal which is part of the gill structure.
Worry ye not xxx :D

A great tip, if you have a pot (ideal to what waxworms come in - with very fine perforated holes and a resealable lid) defrost food in this (keeping the lid on) I often float this in Toothless' tank prior to feeding which gets him in the mood but he can't get at it first before time.

I thought you might like these as one shows him waiting patiently and his 'dinner bowl the other of him enjoying it xxx

I noticed that and I am experienced with fishing but I just wanted to be sure it was ok for that to happen sometimes.
