Not the best of shots, but this taricha is still in quarantine. Able to see the larger setup.

The grass surely looks greener on the other side of the glass..

How much more time dose he have in jail (quarantine) left?

Poor guy! (or gal!)
New and in quarantine, or sick and in quarantine?

Cute either way, of course. ..how could it not be...it's a TARICHA!!!!

What's that plant in the other tank, with the red stripes on the leaves? Is that a live plant?

Well, I bought three new taricha. I already had moved one from quarantine to big setup. After the picture I moved this one too. It's been eating regularly for a few days and I know where it's been kept for the past 3 weeks.
Only one left in quarantine, but that one still has to start eating on its own.

The plant in the background is real, it even flowers almost continually with small pink/purple flowers. I don't know the name off hand.

Such a sad and expressive picture. In the US, that plant is called "prayer plant". It's generally a house/terrarium plant, not aquatic. Can it grow with roots in water, or do you have it in soil?

It's planted in soil. There are two large land sections on each side of the aquarium. The plants are pretty long and hang over the land bridge and somewhat into the water.

The leaves are a good size for taricha to rest under.

rofl hilarious picture...if only it had acid-shooting eyes...hrm........

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
