Hi there, wow I havnt signed in here in weeks, I forgot how fascinating this site is. So, my little clan is about six months old and entering their first Canadian winter. Their parents have a heater in their tank (my house is freezing) but Im uncertain as to how to keep the little guys warm. How warm do they have to be? Room temperature round here is about 15 degrees celsius. The little guys are currently living in a plastic tub with some stones and plants and I've noticed that they are more apt to be in piles when I look in on them, are they cold? They didnt really "pile" before.

15ºC should be perfectly fine. They most definitely don´t need a heater, don´t worry.

I kept them in room temperature all the time. Just make sure they are not too hot. Since they ectothermic, I don't think they piled together to keep themselves warm. I guess they piled together for hiding places. Maybe if you provide more hiding places, they will spread out.

I have used rock slates to provide cover for them. I simply take the slates away when handfeeding.
