if i dont change anything about the tank, temperature etc, will the axies still breed? i ask this because i dont want my female breeding again for a while because she is quite young and i want to give her a break. i do have a spare 10 gal tank but its going to be overrun with babies any day now.
thanks

Amy - Once mine started they didn't stop unless they were separated. The female would lay eggs every 3 to 4 weeks.

urgh. i guess i can move the males into the 60 gal and leave the femlae in the 20 gal, then the babies can grow in the 15 gal until theyre big enough to go in the 60 gal, then the dads can go into the 20 gal and the mum can go in the 15 gal! what a polava! *collapses*

you could just divide the tank they're in now. they can't have babies if they can't reach each other

i dont really want to limit the adults any more than i have to and if i have free tanks why not use them! :D on top of that i dont really want all the babies eating each other! lol

all going well so far. one of the twin eggs burst a few days ago though. one of them is doing fine out of its egg. the other one died though

the rest are due on friday! they all seem to be dark even though the mum is albino so im guessing the dad is the wildtype who must have been homozygous dominant, hence all the babies turning out dark! hey, the biologys coming in handy ;)

Mendellian Genetics is the only thing I use out of my high school bio classes. (possibly out of my entire high school education!)
