My female Axie has laid eggs again, twice now in one month. Another surprise! I'm worried that perhaps this might be stressful on my female (Chantico). They seem to act strange and stressed when we have had to separate them in the past for fridging. I'm not sure if this will be a health issue for her....? Will this keep happening?

Hi there,
I don't have any experience with female as I currently have males and juveniles. I would have thought that laying eggs twice in one month would have used a lot of energy and may have taken your female a lot of effort. I would also guess that while your pair are together this will continue to happen. Maybe a divider in the tank will help.
I've also only been keeping axolotls for 3 months, but there are a lot of very experienced keepers on this forum, so they will be able to give you more appropriate and detailed advice.
Best of luck with your axolotls and please keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you so much for the advice! Maybe a divider would be a good idea, and I am going to look into it :)

I've had these two little lovelies for almost a year, and did NOT expect this to happen once, let alone twice so soon! And although it is very exciting, and I am going to try to raise the tiny ones when they hatch....LOTS of research will be happening on my part, so that it goes smoothly and I am doing it correctly! This will be a big endeavor, but I'm looking forward to it.
Any advice would be great from all wonderful forum members!

Thanks again for your reply, much appreciated!

You really need to separate your males and females, or this could happen every few weeks. The female will quickly become exhausted by repeated breeding.

She needs a break and some extra worms. And please don't try and raise all the babies - freeze some or sell some, and just keep a sensible number yourself.

Just to clarify, my intentions are to sell the axies when they are ready for that step. I apologize if I wasn't clear on what I meant by "raise them". I'll be keeping only a couple for myself. Thank you for the advice; I will separate the male and female.
