I read about not putting large snails in newt tanks because the could possibly harm the newt when retreating into their shell. However small snails were ok. But as we all know Eastern newts are poisonous. I was wondering if the toxin was strong enough that it would kill any snails I add to the tank? I don't have an algae problem. My sister has a ton of little snails in her fish tank and wanted me to take some. But I don't want to add them to my tank if my newt toxin will kill them.

No, the newt's toxin will not kill the snails. There isn't enough newt toxin the tank water to kill anything. If you handle or harass your newts, this could cause them to release the toxin, but they don't normally release it.
