Hey all, I posted the question about the CFBN being bored and I still havnt seen them eat, they just lay around lol. but I have tried freeze dried bloodworms and tubi flex worms, I hope they will eat soon, its only their second day in the tank so im not that worried. but I dont have much of a selection for real plants where I live so I mostly buy plastic plants, though I plain on buying some more real ones soon I only have 3 long leafy plants right now, they are skinny and reach far out(the leaves)and I have 2 big fake plants that have these stems with bushes going all the way up (the newts seem to like them the best) and 2 medium sized like that, and I have some other swirly fake plant, my question is will the newts lay their eggs on fake plants?? Im hoping on breeding them I dont have a heater in the tank so its very cool, there are 4 of them in a 29g tank alone so theres enough room. (I hope I can breed them) lol so if anyone can help me id appriciate it, they are my first non-fish pet lol, bye!

Hey all, I forgot to ask, do newts like bright light or low light to breed?

Heya My newts breed in my ten gallon on fake plants, but I suggest try using silk plants, my female ha a hard time laying them on the harder plastic kind. I don't think you need a heater, as you need to keep their water kool any way. In the case of lighting I have low lights, but also didn't have intentions to breed when I first got them, it was in the next few week, and all of a sudden I had eggs, so it was not expected.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
