how long has it been? also, what does he eat?My Axolotl won’t poop, he isn’t stressed, he isn’t acting weird, he eats fine, he seems happy but he just won’t poop!
It’s been over a week, he eats a night crawler or a bloodworm cubes every other day, how do I find the tank parameters?how long has it been? also, what does he eat?
tank parameters are also necessary information here
bloodworms aren't suitable as a staple, he should be on mainly night crawlers with the occasional bloodworm cube as a treat. It’s been over a week, he eats a night crawler or a bloodworm cubes every other day, how do I find the tank parameters?
His tank has been cycled, he’s always been good with going to the bathroom every 2-5 days, I would need instructions for tubbing thoughbloodworms aren't suitable as a staple, he should be on mainly night crawlers with the occasional bloodworm cube as a treat.
water parameters are found through testing with the API master test kit. this is required for keeping axolotls and many other aquatic animals. i assume that the tank is uncycled, ergo he needs to be tubbed immediately. i'll give further instructions and advice on tubbing if you need it.
how do you know it's cycled without a testing kit?His tank has been cycled, he’s always been good with going to the bathroom every 2-5 days, I would need instructions for tubbing though
Can you instruct me on tank cycling? My dad cycled my tank when I brought him home, should it be cycled again with a testing kit?how do you know it's cycled without a testing kit?
his normal bowel movements sound fine, no real worried there.
for tubbing, find a large, clean container and fill it with cool dechlorinated water. make sure the temperature of the tub water is the same as the tank, then gently move your axolotl into the tub. do 100% water changes every day, and continue offering him food.
agree with this- it may be the cause of your issuebecause axolotls are water living animals moisture isn't removed from their fecal matter so when they defecate it isn't always noticeable and unless monitored 24/7 may be missed as the debris goes straight into the water column and then filter, with a bare bottom tank some traces may be found but in a tank with substrate it can be more difficult, one way to find out if defecation is taking place is to clean the mechanical stage of the filter (sponge) in old tank water to remove debris then a few days later repeat the process, if muck/debris is coming out of the filter then defecation is taking place.
i'd look for a good tank cycling guide online, as it's a very long process. Can you instruct me on tank cycling? My dad cycled my tank when I brought him home, should it be cycled again with a testing kit?
Were you able to fix the situation? Yup! All good now
