Why put eggs on leaves when feet are closer?

I was quite surprised this morning to see one of my T. marmoratus swimming around with an egg stuck on one of her rear legs. I don't know if it's fertilized or not, but I do know that this is quite strange. Enjoy!

I've also noticed another egg sitting in the sand. It's been there about a week now, but I've yet to notice any kind of development or fungal growth. Strange things going on in this tank. Strange things...

Mods- could you please move this thread to the "Eurasian Newts" section of the forum? Thanks!

Moved it. Actually this happens quite often when the female doesn't manage to "glue" the egg to plants or any other egg-depositing substrate. Eggs are quite sticky in the beginning. Might want to check the plants in your setup thoroughly for eggs now on a daily basis. Congrats!
