I have recently filled my C. Orientalis tank with 2-3 inches of water while he was sitting at the bottom of the water but ever since he's been acting up and trying to climb the glass.

I have had the same volume of water before and he was fine but it has all changed. I've noticed if I give him a day or 2 with peace and quiet to get used to the tank he's fine, but recently he's been working up and not even giving it a try.

Help,
Zac

my newt (RIP Figgy) acted like this if his water was off, like maybe some chlorine or slightly too warm waters, try to keep his water perfect and he may settle down more, alternatively he may just want land and really a terrestrial get-away may just give him time to settle as his tank is perfected for him.

I would also hazard a guess there is something wrong with your water that he doesn't like. Put a bit of "land" in there for him to climb onto as he doesn't appear to like the water.

I have a turtle dock too - they are great as they don't loose swimming space but create land :)

Are you doing total water changes? If so, I would recommend always doing only partial water changes (half of the water or less). Total changes can be quite a shock to an amphibian.
