Hello,
I've been wondering what everyone has been useing for water conditioner.
It is tough to find a good brand that does not include anything fancy and what not.
I've been useing Aquaeon for my axolotl's for awhile. They've been doing good.only fault It has slime coat protection. I want to switch brands that does not have anything in it, just to remove chlorine from tap water. Is there a brand out there that I can use ?
Would it be okay to be mixing water conditioner brands if i were to switch ? I just want to try something new is all.

Well, i use to use the same thing, and sometimes Prime. But now i let my water sit 24hrs + to let the chlorine evaporate naturally. I perfer this method beacuse i figrue the less chemicals the better!

I also let a bucket of water sit for a few days and go that route.

Cheaper way in the long run would be the Water Butt route. natural rain water collected without the chems in it.

I'm going to be doing this next month in preparation for my huge custom tank.

Just remember rain water can be acidic and is lacking natural minerals. It will need to be buffered with a solution.

I don't know if you can get it over there, but in new zealand there's a water ager called blue circle (i think). it's got a yellow label if that helps.it works just fine for my lotl and goldfish. i'm too impatiant to let water age, so i put a couple of drops in to new water that's from the tap and that makes it ok for the animals to live in:)

I've been using Prime for ages, but I swap about 50 gallons of water per change (many tanks), so the concentration and price is the main selling factor.

Honestly, I've always suspected the slime coat claims on the bottles were meaningless, but I'm not certain.

We do not get a lot of benefits living in The Netherlands, but here we do not have to treat our water, because of the lack of chemicals. Makes everything a lot easier. We can literally drink out of the toilet. Taxes really suck here though....

I use Stress Coat, the same for all my fish, frogs, newts, and sals. I haven't noticed any difference from using the slime coat type with my amphibians. It probably doesn't actually exist, haha. I can't let buckets of water sit out, unfortunately, as I'm in a small space and my water changes usually require 20+ gallons, which is more buckets than I have. I really like API products.
