Hello!

I'd like to buy sand for my new axolotl tank. I have 3 axolotls already but there's no substrate in their tank. Is the "The National Geographic White Aquatic Sand" a recommended product for axolotl? Is there a better type of sand?

Thank you!

Heh. I was looking at the exact same sand, actually. PetSmart is basically my only option other than ordering online. :/

Yep, me too :/ I want to know if the size of the grains that sand is safe for the axolotls, but the size is not written on the bag :(

I’m looking at this sand as well but in black! As far as I can tell the grain looks to be about the right size for axolotls but I’m interested in hearing what others think as well! :)

Check your local hardware store, if they have an outdoors section they should stock play sand (made for sand pits). This is safe for axolotls and a lot cheaper than buying aquarium sand. Just wash it until the water runs clear

That's exactly what my best friend suggested too. But I don't really need a 500lb bag of sand.lol. My plan B is to get a bag of play sand and split it with her.

I was thinking about the black sand as well. I like the look of it, and it would really make her stand out. Bop would Pop! ;)
