Hi I have my two babies eating bbs and they love it but the shrimp die after a few days so im always having to hatch more and they smell in my home made hatchery. I am in QLD australia but no where sells daphnia any one know someone or somewhere that does. I really want the best for my little babies as there made it this far so I can't fail them now. There so cute got the front leg buds and there really fast in the water now except when they have a full belly. really cant wait until there older and I can start to feed them blood worms.

Welcome to the world of Axolotl Husbandry!
Lots of work!
Obscene smells!
All sorts of searching for various creepy-crawlies to feed them!

My suggestion to you is try E-bay. I did a bit of Searching with Google, but my lack of knowledge about various laws and so on down under prevent me from directly pointing you to a source with confidence.

In short, I wouldn't want to steer you wrong.

Perhaps a few of our Aussie members could chime in here?

You can’t buy them here :( they just don’t exist, I have looked EVERYWHERE. It’s going to be a struggle to find a pet store which even sells live fish food. I have the same trouble with the brine shrimp but you just have to do it. When they get a bit bigger they can eat mosquito larvae, and they are really easy to acquire... just leave a container of water out for a few days! although mozzies are less consistent in winter.

i've tried too... cant get them here.
mosquitos are non existent too where i live in winter. you just got to stick with brine shrimp.

I think once the get their front legs you can start to feed them cut up bloodworms(I may be wrong, i havent raised babies yet)...Please if Im wrong can someone correct me. I dont want to give the wrong info out.

Have any of you looked into buying them from scientific supply houses or wastewater treatment supply companies?

Mozzies! That's brilliant :) It's a shame it's winter, but I'm gonna try anyhow...

Has anyone had success with finding homes for lots of babies (in Aus)? Assuming I can keep lots of babies alive, that is... We have two pet shops in town, and they'll take maybe a handful each, but that's it.
