Hi I just read that Brine Shrimp isn't the best food for Axolotl larvae. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that sells the Daphnia eggs in Australia as our pet shops don't get any live food or eggs in. Thought I would get prepared just incase my female does lay eggs as she is big and round and the male put sperm in the tank but not sure if shes fertilised or not. How would I tell if she is fertilised and about to lay the eggs? Also will my filter suck the eggs up I turned it right down and its not moving any of the plants, I made one side of the tank full of plants.
Sorry for all the questions this is our first time.

Hello
You wont really know if she's going to lay til she starts.
Mine tends to go up for air a lot and become active just before and during laying.

I raise all my babies on baby brine shrimp.

I don't know who suggested that baby brine shrimp were not a good source of food for axie larvae. I use it almost exclusively since getting appropriately sized daphnia in large enough numbers is very tough.

hi, yes brine shrimp are very nutritious and easy. You dont need to wory about your filter sucking up the eggs, the female attaches them with a strong jelly that is quite hard to remove.

i personally tried both daphnia and brine shrimp and can honestly say i prefer brine shrimp.

you use a lot less daphnia than brine shrimp because it can survive for such a long time in the water than brine shrimp, but its not too fun to culture.
