im interested in buying an albino, i have been going to see one in shop he doesnt look happy and is quite big, but i just want to save him he is priced £25. now.. i havnt even got tank yet so it will be a month before i could get him, so is there anyway/where i could get a very young one maybe even spawn and bring 1 or 2 up by hand, any info or offers im in uk lincolnshire

Hi Isobel

if you would like to go ahead and get that albino fellow, you can keep him in a food safe container like a plastic ice-cream bucket with holes poked into the lid so that he can't get out and can breath with clean declorinated water and daily water changes until your tank is up and cycling.

Stress coat or Amqual+ are declorinaters that are good with Axolotls. Stress coat is better however because it has Aloe in it and it helps their skin.

Once you get your tank established and cycled you can put your little guy in there.

I have 6 Axolotls. 3 of them are currently housed in containers until they can be moved into a very large tank that I just purchased. Three others are all living in a very established tank which is beginning to be too small for them. They will also be moved into the bigger tank.

But if you would like to go ahead and try with some other Axolotls, the link that Jordan provided is also a good step

It might seem right now that they aren't that expensive but they are expensive, especially when you need to buy the filter, the tank, the dechlorinator, the decorations ( if you don't make any), the sand, the plants (unless you have fake ones). It gets to be expensive.

ok in the last week i have spent over $800au to set my axies up where they will be happy, and that doesnt include the cooler i have to get

another approx $600
but well worth the money, i love em
