I'm picking up my axolotl baby on Monday. I have a cycled 10 gallon tank ready for it, but I'm worried it might be too big? The baby is a little over 3cm long. Should I set up a smaller container to house it in until it's bigger? Or will it be okay in the 10 gallon?

The 10 gallon has a sponge filter, a few large rocks, a silk plant, and a small hide. The bottom is bare (no substrate).

Thanks! And Hi! I'm new to the forum.

Its not the size of the tank thats the issue, its the filter. Very small axies don't cop very well with flow, I'd keep your baby in a tub with daily water changes until it is 8-10cm.

Just like to add that a smaller container means food concentrated in a smaller area supports easier feeding
