I never had a planarian problem until this last month. I have done full water changes and good scrubs, yet they keep coming back. I know I have read on here that they are harmless, but where exactly are they coming from in a clean tank? I have no substrate on the bottom.

Planaria is caused by uneaten food and other dirty things in the tank. Make sure you remove uneaten food from the tank within 20 minutes of feeding time, and of course spot clean as soon as you see messes.

You can also do daily 20% water changes to make sure the water quality is/stays pristine. This will also help because you'll be removing the planaria (especially if you aim for them!).

If you're still having issues, I'd suggest a deep-clean of the tank. Drain all the water, scrub the tank and all décor down with hot water and let air dry. Be aware that this will crash your cycle, but unless any are hiding on your axie, it should get rid of them!

Best of luck!

Do you have (or have you had in the past) any live plants? A lot of times they will hitchhike in on them. Guppies are the best way to get rid of them, but I guess that's not an option in the Axie tank.....lol....otherwise, I agree with the frequent water changes. Try to wipe them off the glass before the water change......that way, more of them are free-floating in the water and will be sucked out with it.

On the positive side, your water quality is good! Planaria can't survive in bad water!

I get planaria every year around this time. I've just come to the conclusion they will vanish on their own after a month or so. Just keep an eye on your water quality and they shouldn't be a problem hopefully.
