Where can i find Axolotls?

I was wondering if anyone knew where i could get a healthy Axolotl? I live In Sacramento CA, and there is a pet store here and they said they would get a shipment in about two weeks or so. I am skeptical because i've seen pets stores where there store was overstocked with animals, and i even found one that was selling a Poisondart frog! not sure which kind, but it made me feel bad. I like shopping at nice pet shops where the animals are well taken cared for and not crammed into little tanks or cages where they become sick or stressed. I will visit the pet store, but i was just wondering if anyone had any advice. I especially like Lucistic Axolotls with little black eyes and Black Axolotls, they're my favorite, and i would like to start off with a male. I have a tank set up and its been running for a few days so it will be ready soon. Filter works great and the live plants are nice too. my email is ruga_lapis_valcre@yahoo.com

The pet store is probably your best bet. If you don't trust them, you can get them from http://www.wardsci.com/

P.S. - Why would a pet store having a poison dart frog upset you? They are extremely common animals for amphibian keepers. Just currious.

Is there any other website besides this one that i can purchase them from and have a wider veriety to chose from?
 
Do a google search on Biological Supplies. It will take a little looking, but there are quite a few places to get them.
 
Check Indiana University Axolotl colonies web site. It will give you several places you can purchase axolotls.

Michael Shrom won't ship To California or New Jersey, because Axolotls are outlawed in this state, but Pet stores get away with selling them, and I was able to get a wild type from Capital Aquarium very recently. If live near Modesto, a pet store called Exotic Birds and Pets is getting a shipment of Axolotls, here is their phone number:

I my self have found two other sources for axolotls and they are willing to ship to me, i am skeptical that this pet store is relaly selling axololts and not tiger salamander babies, but you can git it a try, or email me and I can help you further, my email is ruga_lapis_valcre@yahoo.com
there are others outside of this state willing to ship to california, but the truth is no one is going to go busting people for shipping a few axolotls into this state, the government is already way too focused on busting people for drugs and other more import illegal stuff, as pet stores get Axolotls in from other states with no problem. If you are lucky, Capital Aquarium may still have have some, they are located in Sacramento, they had when I went in two gold albinos, and two wild types and I picked out a wild type.
