Ok so I have been looking around, I haven't looked every where but I have done some looking and I can't seem to find what im looking for. I and wondering what the water/floor space is suggested for one axolotl. I have 9 and trying to figure out where and how to put them when they older! Any suggestions would be awesome! :)

At least one foot per axolotl. It says this about 10,000 times on the forum.

That is very possible that I missed it, I have been spending most of my time in the larva and breeding one though looking for feeding threads. I just started looking a couple days ago for filter and space things! But thank you for the response! :)

around a 2ft tank for one, 3ft for two and so on. Around 10 galleons of water per axie should keep them happy and healthy :)

Just keep in mind that axolotls don't use the water column much, but prefer to spend most of their time walking around on the floor. So the bigger, the better!

Also if you can't seem to find/afford a big aquarium you can keep them in plastic tubs.

Lol, yes it probably is an understatement, but like I said I just started looking for it. All of these answers though give me a better idea put together! So thank you so much.

I would suggest something around 5-6' long, and 1.5-2" wide. As long as you closely monitor your water parameters and do 1-2 water changes weekly, that should suffice. If you can't find what you're looking for (don't forget to check kijiji and craiglist) see if there's someone who custom builds tanks.

Make sure you have ~2 hides/axolotl to help prevent accidental nipping and provide security! :)

Adding faster growing plants (bacopa, cabomba, egeria densa, wisteria, hornworts, water sprite, duckweeds, salvinia, water hycinath) will use up more nitrates in the water and will thus help keep nitrate parameters clearer. Most of those are floating plants - since they are exposed to the air they can access greater amounts of CO2 and thus photosynthesize more, ergo using up more nitrates! Floating plants also second to decrease light in the tank, and since axolotls don't have eyelids, they appreciate not having bright lights shone in their faces. :)

You could get 2 tank instead, if that size of a tank would be too big, however that decreases the footprint of what each axolotl would be able to maneuver about, so keep it 1 if you can and/or you don't mind keeping boys with girls!

Oooh! Thank you I was actually going to start looking for what live plants would be good for tanks too! I actually just came across a 55 gallon tank for $25!! So I snatched that up! They will need to be split up when they get bigger but they all have a place now! :) I just need to get it going so its ready for them! Thanks again every one!!
