I have what I belive is a spotted salamander metamorph that I raised from a larva. He just came up out of the water today and his gills are almost gone. I was wondering when I should offer food to him, and what would be the best thing to offer? I have lots of fruit flies, as I also have many wood frog metamorphs right now (two are albino):D.So, will the spotted be able to catch fruit flies? I can find some worms samall enough for him also. This is my first time raising salamanders, so advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

At this time it may eat anything at moves that can fit into its mouth. Or it my not eat for 1-2 weeks. Fruit flies work well and pinhead crickets are good to. Make sure it has a terrestrial place to hide where it can finish morphing. Keep the salamander cool, dark, damp and it won't be too stressed to eat. Try putting a few flies in the enclosure and if it eats feed it more. If it refuses just don't add anymore flies.

Albino Wood Frogs? any pics?

Thanks. Can it go without eating for two weeks? And yea I'll attach some pics of them.
