I posted this question about a week ago and did not get any responses so I thought I would try again.
I have had my axolotl for about a month now and was wondering how much longer I should wait to put it in my 10 gallon tank. It is currently in a small fish tank and I am doing water changes every couple of days using the tank water. The water in the tank is all cycled and ready, I'm just afraid that my axolotl will not be able to fight the filter. It is about 2 1/2 inches long and has all four limbs.

I am not the most experienced keeper on this forum, so I can only give you advice from my experience. If you are concerned about your little one with the filter there are several things that you can do to reduce the water flow, from putting plants in the way, to putting other decor/hides etc. in the tank, to using extra filter sponge to reduce the flow. It would be really helpful if you could post a few pictures of your set up, and give some more information on the filter, so we get more of an idea of what the problems could be.
This will also give the more experienced keepers more information to help you.

I have attached a picture of my tank. I have a whisper 10i filter and a fake plant directly under where the water comes out.

As you have the plant in the way of the water flow, there may not be a problem. I would always prefer to have my axolotls in a fully cycled tank rather than doing daily water changes on a smaller container.
Looking at the filter, if you are concerned about the water flow, try attaching an extra piece of filter sponge to the front of the filter, so the water disturbance from the outflow is less.
You may also want to have another look at the stone hide. Is it a rough granite type one? Axolotls have delicate skin and any rough décor could cause a problem.

As I mentioned previously, I am not very experienced, so it's worth checking with the more experienced keepers.

I hope that everything goes well for you and your axolotl, and please keep us posted on progress.
