hi, just wondering what others recommended for putting an axie in with its parents.... "baby" is still half his parents size and i definitely think he is too small to join them.
we left ours till the axies are roughly around the same size as each other. they tried to eat each other once but gave up trying that straight away. we put them in the same tank with a see through splitter for a while so they could see and get used to other for a while. hope it helps.
Hi Mary
I've recently put two juveniles in with their mum - they're approx two thirds her size. My worry was that she would eat them so we had a divider in tank for a few weeks. The mum would spend hours with nose and front feet pressed up against the mesh divider (interested or hungry?). When we removed the divider we were surprised how easily they all accepted one another. The only problem so far has been a bit of a nip off the end of the mum's tail! I think her offspring are more indiscriminate in their snapping at anything that moves. The mum likes to sniff prospective food so is more circumspect and less likely to inadvertently munch her offspring. That's my theory so far....
