My golden albino Emilia has given me some eggs and I'm going to do my best to raise a few. Assuming I'm successful, when will the babies be old enough to go to new homes? I'd like to start finding homes for them soon so they have somewhere to go when the time comes.
P.S - Not looking for people on the forum to offer to take any, as I'd rather not post them. I live millions of miles from anywhere and next day delivery isn't available. Wouldn't want to put a little axolotl through that!

Shame u r not looking for anyone on forum - I would willingly have driven there to get babies - but - there we go

Would be happy to provide you with some if you did come up, but doubt you'd want to. Would either be a 12 hour overnight boat journey or a few hundred quid for flights!
Eggs are really starting to take form now and my daphnia came today. Not long to go... They seem to have survived my pet bunny's attempt to kill them by jumping right into the box they're in!

Don't think he broke a single one and am working on getting rid of all the fluff before they hatch.

It really depends on how many you take on as to how quickly you run out of room - if that's a factor... Most of mine (17 in total) are now 3 months old and are 2-3 inches long (with two at 3-4 inches - I'll keep these and a few others) and very strong now. They are outgrowing my room now so am hoping to find somewhere where they can have the freedom of a nice big tank to themselves.

Some people like to take young axies, and some prefer to have them as full grown adults of 1+ years... Just see how they go and good luck in finding new homes - I'm struggling to find homes within driving distance to re-house mine. I think some will have to go to the local pet shops who have held axies before.

Kerry, three of the babies have hatched and are doing well. I'm hoping the rest hatch over the next couple of days. I'll have to find new homes for them too!

7 have now hatched! It's cute to see them suck up the daphnia!

Thanks Ian! That gives me a much better idea of what I'm doing.
Hi Louise, great to see the eggs looking so well. Been hearing from others I've sent them to that they're hatching, but no excitement with mine yet. I've moved them into a warmer room to speed things up a bit.
