One of my larvae is now on its back and not moving... :( The others tails are pointed 45 towards the surface, their tails aren't curved but its like they are more bouyant than the rest of their body...is this a sign of anything?
Thanks
Joe

If I remember rightly, the floating can be a sign of constipation / impaction, but mine do it volutarily (just to scare me I think) some times - when I watch them, they right themselves easily.
I expect there are probably many other possible reasons though :(

Larvae have the tendency to float...and depending on how small they also sometimes float upside down. How large are they?

Mine do the 45 tail thing a lot at the moment. They are 2 months and about 7cm long.

It could be constipation but it could be normal too. Is there anything in their tank/container that they could have swallowed that may be a little too big to pass?

Babies and juvies do some very very odd things just to scare us. I had one that had an issue with staying on the bottom AFTER it had just finished pooping out 3 pcs of 2mm gravel (3 year old son threw a handful in the tank) it was fine before and floatie after  it had righted itself by the next day though.

If you bubbies are still tiny it's possible the upside down one has a gas bubble in it's stomach, my goldens did that a lot, but it should pass it just fine and be back to normal again soon.

Just keep an eye on them and make sure you keep their water cool and clean and that they are well fed. Mine float more just before feed time when their bellies are empty.

Good luck.
