OK, I know the answer. But here's what I'm wondering: at what point (how old) can you stop feeding them BBS and start feeding them bloodworms/blackworms, and finally, at what age will they begin eating pellets? I rasied some babies about a year and a half ago, but I think that I had them on the BBS diet far longer than necessary.

My CURRENT babies hatched about a month ago. Can I offer them bloodworms/blackworms now, and will they eat them?

Thanks!

I usually start offering my axolotls chopped blackworms at around the 2 week age mark.

Cool! So I'm done with the BBS mess!! Thanks so much :)

I guess the rule is if it fits in their mouth, then they can eat it, right?

dumb question but what are you choping them up with and how large at 2 weeks. I tried this once for some larger fish fry and was a major FAIL for me. Black worms are pretty tuff little worms.I tried with a razor blade on some glass and didnt work out so well any suggestions would be great.

THOSE GAVE YOU A PROBLEM?

First of all, Eric you are hilarious tonight.

I chopped up blood worms for my babies when they were a few weeks old, and it was pretty manageable with a razor blade.

They LOVED them and would eat them off the end of a spoon.

Yes those gave me problems we order them in 1 lb lots from California Black Worms once a month for our killes and cichlids we raise. Never tried cutting them up but once and it was a major fail. Maby im stupid but i used a stainless steel razor blade and a sheet of glass and couldnt get them to cut well. Maybe ill have to try another way. Ill try chopping on a softer surface like old kitchen cutting board. But i thought Baby axies wouldnt eat food that doesnt move and once cut only part of it is going to move correct.

I assure you, I am ALWAYS hilarious..just hard to make jokes when 90% of the subject matter on this forum is either sand, water parameters, or fungus.

But thanks:D

And Travis...I think axies would happily eat the chopped worms once they ID it as food.
