Photo: What on earth is this?

This is my first newt tank, so I hope this isn't a stupid question....but what is this? It's right above the waterline and looks gel like?

I think it may be the egg clutch of a midge fly (Chironomus sp.). If my supposition is true, you can see tiny dark dots in it when you watch it from very close.

I feel so dumb....so I went to get a paper towel and it was gone! I searched the tank and didn't see it. Yesterday I saw it on the other side of the tank. It was a ghost shrimp!

I just freaked out because I love my new babies and had no idea what it was. Thanks everyone
