What newts can i keep with some betta fish?

I have a few tanks and I really want to keep some newts. The problem is that i already have my beloved betta fish in them. I do have some more peaceful betta that are good with other inhabitants.
Is it possible for me to keep newts with the betta?
What type of newts?

I also heard that the skin of a newt gives out toxins that could potentially kill my fish, is this true?

Not a good idea to mix fish with newts, particularly tropical fish which require higher temps. many newt species would eat them anyway, best off with a newt tank or a betta tank.
