What kind of fire bellied toad do I have?

So I have 2 male fire bellied toads. One is bright green and I can definetly tell he's an oriental. But however the other one is much smaller and is half dark green and half brown. I did some research and found that there are many other species of fire bellied toads but he doesn't really look like any of them. Is it possible that he's a hybrid? Can 2 different species of fire bellied toads mate? If so, which species would he most likely be?

Hi wildfire!
I do have two dozens of B. orientalis, most of them my cb. They show all kinds of colour from dark brown to light green. Orientalis is known for its variability in colour. As far as I know the european species and B. maxima are only brown. So I'm quite sure your animals are both B. orientalis, presuming you bought them together. The other species are rather rare and expensive.

I have three fire belied toads and I have had them for a while now.

When I first purchased my fire bellied toads, they were all pretty bright green.


Some times I notice that they change colour in their tank, getting a little darker green. Is this normal? I also notice that my fire bellies always make high pitched noises and one frog will be on top of the other frog, and the frog on top will hold on tight and wrap it forearms on the bottom frog. It looks like it is hurting the other frog? what is this? is this mating?
