g'day,

I am new to the forum and my first post is about one of my Chinese Firebelly Newts. one of my larvas has a strange looking tail. do I have to get concerned or is that normal and will develop into a proper tail over time ? who has seen that before ?

thank you for your help...

Huh... That's a new one...

Is it fibrous? Or is there clear tissue that doesn't show well on the photo?

thanks for your answer, it looks like it is fibrous, I touched it with a blunt needle and it does not seem to bother the little bugger at all (I tried to take some more pictures...)

I'm kind of at a loss. Did it just appear like that suddenly? Or has it been developing like that for some time?

R.I.P little buddy...

...what ever it was he didn't survive it :(

I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. I've never seen anything like that.

no worries Kaysie, now that he died I have had a closer inspection and it looked as part of the egg was still on the tail and the tail wasn't developed properly. really strange but I guess the little bugger is better off that way.

cheers,
steve

Very strange indeed.
