I was looking at my CFBN tank and saw 2 small, light brown things swimming around. I took one out and squished it. I have never cultured any daphnia or brine shrimp. I have a few snails in the tank, some live plants and do weekly water changes. The things have dark bulbous eyes like bugs, 6 legs and tiny tails. They are about half an inch in length and appear to be larvae of some sort? Can someone tell me what these are? Thanks.

A photo would be useful, but based on your description they might be mayfly or damselfly larvae.

Thanks! I now think they are damselflies. Should I remove them? What will happen if I leave them in the tank and how did they get there?
