I have just got my first axoltols and just set up the tank and put her in today, got her through a friend as they could no longer look after her and probably wasnt kept in the best conditions so thought i would rescue her, never had anything like this before and trying to gather up as much information as i can the temperature is reading 70 degrees f and 21 degrees c which i think might be too warm or is this bearable for them

21 degrees is bearable but any higher than that and you're likely to encounter problems. Axolotls in temps higher than 23-24 degrees are much more likely to succumb to heat stress which can lead to a whole lot of other problems.
Living in Australia, my tank for the past month or so has been averaging around 20-21 degrees and my axies do okay with it.

The recommended temp for axolotls I believe is somewhere between 16-18 degrees C. There are a lot of ways you can try and keep your tank cool; for example having it lower in the your house (on the ground, in the basement, etc.), having air conditioning running to keep the room at a constant temp, buying a small fan to blow across the top of the water and using ice bottles.

There's some more good information here:
Axolotls - Requirements & Water Conditions in Captivity

Hope this helps! :D

thanks for your help i think i will try and get it down a little as i live in scotland and its freezing here just now so i dont know what the temperature will be like in the summer if its high now in winter
