What is the average price for a Axolotl anyway?

Hi Monique, In Victoria Australia at least, the prices range from 18 bucks to about 30 and 30 is the most expensive I've seen. 40 sounds like a rip off! I read a post that said that an axie in the UK was trying to be sold for 50 pounds. Work out the exchange rate on that?!!!!!!

With the Axie prices, it also depends on the size, colour and condition of the axolotl. Like the blotchy coloured ones can easily go for $40, and my adult male, if I ever wanted to sell him(which I don't!!) would go for close to $50 because he's so big. So it really depends. I got all 5 of mine for $20-$25, but they were all about 10cm long at the time, so that was pretty reasonable.
 
My 3 cost £15 each...don't know how much that is in dollars...

I got mine for £1 each from my biology teacher who bred them as a hobby. That was back in 1994/1995.

My Axolotl was about 5cm long when I got her and she is a wild-type color.

In Scotland they cost £28, but i was talking to the manager and now he says, he can charge a lot more for them.
They must be getting popular, plus, no other petshops sell them its a Garden Centre with a Marine World thats selling them.
 
Likewise Pamela - I only know one place that sells them in the West Mids and its a garden centre also.

Over the last few years they have put the price up over and over.
 
my first Axolotl, my wild type Mr. Nibbles I got for $40. Now that is expensive! That is like paying a utility bill. My other two, my white and my black I got $9 each.
 
hey,i'm in nz and got my axi,boris,for $29.95 at my local pet shop. i felt that was a rip as he was only 3 months old,about 5cms long, and only a green wild type.his siblings are still there,6 weeks later,and havnt grown at all,boris has doubled in size in that time. poor little dudes must not get much to eat.

Yeah, most pet shops don't know how to look after axies properly.
My green wild type was $19.95 and about 9cm long, but she was sick too at the time (stupid pet shop attendants). But she's alot better now that she has propper care.
 
hello, i got my axie in cairns and she cost me $15.00 and was in perfect health but that was only because he had taken delivery the day before
 
my wild type cost $30 from an aquarium shop, and he was pretty big when i got him ..about 20cm and was in excellent condition for a store bought axie and then i got my female albino for $18 at the mega markets, she was only about 16 cm and was hiding under a log (i think thats why nobody had grabbed her already)
 
$29.95 each (fairly large but not grown) and later $24.95 for smaller ones, all colors.

I've seen wild types on sale locally for £30 ea. but I didn't much care for the conditions they were kept in.
 
In portugal i´d bought axolotls for 22 euros , i think that´s about 22 dollars too
