what type of filter should i have for my axie dude right now i have a lil cheesey one what brand and model is ideal for him i like the brand emperor what do ya think

What size tank do you have? I'd recommend a canister filter for anything over 3', internal for 2' and under

HOB's can work well too... do a google search on emporers- you want something that could do approx 3 times per hour but can be turned right down.

i have a 10 gal. so i have to get something that i can turn down or up as needed how can you tell when you need to turn down or back up

your axies will get stress from water flow. if the filter is too high there gills will tilt forwerd and there might be a kink in the end of there tail. if they're showing these symptoms thats when you know to turn it down.:p

for a small tank like that, i'd recommend an internal filter, maybe HOB but i dont know how they work with small tanks like that

i think a HOB would create to much water flow for a tank that size. i agree with skylar and i would just stick with an internal.

I use an internal filter in my 10 gal "sick axie" tank - a stingray filter. It was cheap, and does its job. Also not much water flow

If you wanted a HOB filter, i think it will be cool. You can turn them right down so the, minimal flow is just drops - just raise the water level so its above the outlet and it will be sweet. Internals are great though, especially for a tank that size - and wont coz you much. Either way, they will both do the job.

Topher, I notice in your avatar you have small gravel in your tank. If you haven't already I would advise you to remove it as it can be swallowed during feeding and cause serious problems. I think, and many others do too, that sand is the ideal substrate.

i will be getting him sand tomorrow with a filter thank you guys so much

cool, good work. get something that does around 30-40 gal per hour and face it to the front glass unless you turn it down a bit. make sure it has a nob to turn it down though, ask the store to get you to show you where! if you can turn it down to say 15gal per hour you could face it along the back, its hard to judge water flow in a tank without seeing it though lol.

make sure you transfer all the old media to the new one!

forgot to add that the water flow is to strong if you axie is half way along the tank (assuming you have it on one end) and its gills are moving, its understandable if its right under it, just use your judgement
