ok i have one more question. My axolotl eggs are now about two weeks old and are starting to change colour. the parents were golden albino and white (not albino) but the babys have white stomachs and dark speckles on their backs. on some of them there are so many that they look wildtype. does this mean that they are all going to be wild type or will they change colour again? I f they are all going to be wild type why?

They're all probably leucistic or albino. The young leucistic ones will have dark speckles which will not migrate further as the animal grows.

I agree with Kaysie, they probably all are albino or leucistic. Which parent was the golden albino? Dark pigmented eggs can turn into pigmentless offspring and white eggs can turn into dark offspring. Usually you can tell for sure what you have by day 4-5 when the colour variants are a bit more distinguished. Can you post pics of the eggs?

There are some probabilities - they might become leucistic or albino but some of them might also become wild type.
Albinos can be distinguished by their non-black eyes and it's a little harder to differentiate between (light) wildtypes and leucistics because both of them have speckles on the back and a white stomach.

In most cases wild types are a lot darker than leucistics, have a look at this pic, that's a wild one. Coloration goes down to the downside.

Maybe he's got some wild type offspring because one of the parents may have wildtype in them let say from their parents? Can that work?

I didn't properly read this previously, but with one parent golden albino (D/?, a/a), and the other parent leucistic (d/d, A/?), there is a chance to get some wildtype larvae out of that (D/d, A/?), probably 25% wildtype, 25% albino, and 50% leucistic.
