Hi, a friend gave me what I believed was a baby Axolotl, I then realized if it was it would have the feathery gills. I attached a picture. It's very healthy now and I've been feeding it frozen brine shrimp 3 times daily for a week. I'm not sure what it is. Thanks in advance.

How long is it? You should try bloodworms or if he is more then 3-4" then earthworms cut up or quality pellets.

He is not terribly skinny but better food choice will help him heal better.

From what I can see is he has at least one missing limb and his gills. If taken care of he can make a full(maybe unique) recovery.

If in a tub of water, do 100% water changes daily with dechlorinated water. If in a tank you really need to watch the levels of the tank(in situations like this it needs to be perfect as you want him to heal) i have 1.5gallon tubs that are my lotls recovery tubs. Or in my case right now their home as I had to empty my 50gallon(thank god it was only one week into a cycle) so my boyfriend could put up drywall. So they have temp homes. I find when they are injured it is easier to keep a close eye on them and make sure the water is clean.

Cool, clean water and good food and this guy will do awesome I know it :)
