I think the white one (Gringita) is male and the wild type (Gordo) is female. Any help on those two guesses? Thanks :)

It's hard to tell - still too young to tell.

The pic of the wild type is hard to see the underside of the tail but it could be a slightly enlarged cloaca - which means maybe male.

The leucistic seems female to me do far :)

well they are both very cute, thats for sure!

Both either too young or female.

They're older than seven months... They were four inches when I got them and I got them about the same time I had my son. So I know they're older than seven months. How old do they need to be?

Hi I hope this helps but my "fishy" is 10-11 months old and is a boy. He has just started forming his bits lol

Anything from 8 to 19 months.

Usually around 8-9 inches they start developing.

But some could be late developers. (and end up being called Florence even though he's a big strapping male  )

I've never noticed any of mine being territorial as such.

I have a grumpy one who sometimes likes to sit around with the others on each others heads etc, then she decides to nip someone....none of the others seem to hurt each other.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
